Dr Aoife Earls MSc ND

Dr Aoife Earls is a licensed naturopathic doctor practicing in Oakville, Ontario, with additional licensing in pharmaceutical prescriptions with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario. Her undergraduate training is in psychology and biology, and her graduate studies in a Masters of Science in Behavioral Neuroscience exploring the brain, immune system, and hormones in experimental models of lupus in a discipline known as PNI (psychoneuroimmunology). In furthering her understanding and support of the mind-body connection, Dr. Earls has had training in mindfulness, and has a special interest in grief, depression, anxiety and hormonal dysregulation.

Dr. Beverly Huang has been in practising at her clinic, Grassroots Naturopathic Medicine, for past 15 years in Calgary, Alberta. She has a special practice interest in chronic infections and mental health, with advanced training in intravenous vitamin therapy, chelation therapy and ozone therapy. She has lectured at several Canadian universities, CCNM and conferences over the past two decades. Beverly has been the Council President of the province’s regulatory authority, College of Naturopathic Doctors of Alberta, since 2015.

After obtained degrees in Life Science and Medical Anthropology I became inspired to learn a form of medicine that uses a holistic framework while still maintaining a scientific approach so I pursued a Naturopathic medical degree at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.

In my practice I am always drawing from my expertise to treat every individual with respect and develop treatment plans that seek to alleviate symptoms while improving overall health. As a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine I see myself as a general practitioner in natural medicine suited to address a wide range of health concerns from the common cold to more complicated chronic health conditions. Over the years I've developed my focus in naturally treating digestive concerns, mood issues, anxiety, allergies, diabetes and high blood pressure.

In addition to my private practice I am clinical faculty at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, and I had a 18 year career as medic in the Canadian Forces.

After completing her studies at CCNM, Dr. Shaw continued her education at the University of British Columbia where she studied reproductive endocrinology, infertility and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) under the guidance of reproductive endocrinologist and fertility specialist, Dr. Anthony Cheung.

Dr. Shaw has additional training in infertility counseling and also Mind Body Medicine (through the Harvard School of Medicine). Her practice is primarily focused on women’s health, fertility, pregnancy, thyroid imbalance and menopause. Dr. Shaw has a pharmaceutical prescribing license and is one of few physicians to receive advanced naturopathic training in obstetrics, pediatrics, and gynecology.

Proudly celebrating over 15 years in the profession, Dr Rob Ayoup ND has worked to promote the rich benefits of Naturopathic Medicine to all those he has worked with.

In addition to clinical practice, Dr Ayoup has applied Naturopathic Medicine across multiple avenues and the bridge into Naturopathic Aesthetics began soon after graduation. Upon completing additional training in Cosmetic Facial and Cellulite Acupuncture, Dr Ayoup soon found a strong interest in his patient population for less invasive and natural approaches to skin health and beauty. This was accelerated by the recognition that this realm of natural-based cosmetics and cosmetic techniques was underexplored in the Naturopathic field. As Dr Ayoup studied and integrated these therapies into his practice, he quickly realized how much Naturopathic therapies, and especially our approach, can offer in the arena of Aesthetics Medicine. Working within various medical spa and fitness facilities has provided a wonderful opportunity to share Naturopathic Aesthetics with a wide population.

Building on his passion for constant learning and teaching, Dr Ayoup is eager to educate his fellow NDs as to this exciting application of Naturopathic Medicine.

Monique Aucoin is a Naturopathic Doctor in Toronto Canada and Research Fellow at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM). Her clinical and research work are focused on the treatment and prevention of mental illness through the use of nutrition interventions, particularly, dietary modification. Her interests include the role of macronutrient balance and dysglycemia, micronutrient deficiency and food sensitives. Dr. Aucoin is an instructor at CCNM, advising on case report writing and teaching the evidence-informed practice course in the International Medical Graduate stream of the ND program. She is passionate about case report writing and supporting clinicians and faculty in engaging with research and publishing scholarly works. She has been a longstanding member of the Naturopathy Special Interest Group of the Interdisciplinary Network of Complementary and Alternative Medicine Researchers (INCAM).

Dr. Kieran Cooley ND

Kieran Cooley’s experience in CCNM’s department of research and clinical epidemiology includes conducting pragmatic, whole-practice clinical trials on naturopathic care, evaluating the quality and impact of both naturopathic and integrative medicine, as well as collaborating with various institutions to evaluate natural health products. Currently, he is investigating cannabis and integrative approaches for chronic pain, interprofessional collaboration and education, and naturopathic approaches to both irritable bowel syndrome and diabetes. He is Chair-Elect of the Canadian Interdisciplinary Network of Complementary and Alternative Medicine Researchers (INCAM) and Visiting Research Fellow at the Australian Research Centre for Complementary and Integrative Medicine, University of Technology, Sydney through the International Naturopathy Research Leadership and Capacity Building Program. He is co-Chair of the Research Working Group of the Academic Consortium for Integrative Health and was recently co-appointed to lead the Research Group for the Naturopathic Medicine Collaborative’s ‘Future of Naturopathic Medicine’.

Dr. Carlson Rink is a Licensed Naturopathic Physician and Registered Midwife (non-practicing) practicing at the Family Health Clinic in Langley, BC with a focus on pregnancy, women's and children's health. She is an instructor of Obstetrics at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine. She also teaches continuing education to healthcare professionals in the areas of women’s and children’s health. Dr. Carlson-Rink graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education (Major in Health and Fitness) from the University of Saskatchewan. She received her degrees in Naturopathic Medicine and Midwifery from Bastyr University. She is recognized as the first naturopathic physician in Canada to also work as a licensed midwife and is part of the first group of registered midwives integrated into the hospital setting in British Columbia. She is the mother of 3 daughters, all born at home, her last miraculously arriving at 47 years of age. One of the greatest joys of her practice is having been given the opportunity to care for children from birth to adulthood and to see the vitality & prevention of disease that naturopathic medicine offers this age group.

Since 2012, Dr. Amy Alexander has offered clinical services which focus on the integrative management of complex mental and physical illness using Integrative Psychiatry & Psychotherapy, Functional Medicine, Medical Acupuncture and Yoga Therapy. This combination of skills makes her a valued presence in the Canadian conventional and complementary medical communities. Amy continually explores her interests in mind-body healing. Dr. Hui has been practicing medicine for almost twenty-five years and since 1991 he’s cultivated an active interest in complementary medicine. After four years of studying Chinese medicine & acupuncture at Beijing Hospital he did four years of self-directed externship with naturopaths and chiropractors. In his practice Dr. Hui uses allopathic medicine, naturopathic medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, and joint manipulation. Dr. Jack Newman graduated from the University of Toronto medical school in 1970, interning at the Vancouver General Hospital. He did his training in pædiatrics in Quebec City and then at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto from 1977-1981 to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in 1981 as well as Board Certified by the AAP in 1981. He has worked as a physician in Central America, New Zealand and as a paediatrician in South Africa (in the Transkei). He founded the first hospital based breastfeeding clinic in Canada in 1984. He has been a consultant for UNICEF for the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative, evaluating the first candidate hospitals in Gabon, the Ivory Coast and Canada.

Dr. Newman was a staff paediatrician at the Hospital for Sick Children emergency department from 1983 to 1992, and was, for a period of time, the acting chief of the emergency services. However, once the breastfeeding clinic started functioning, it took more and more of his time and he eventually worked full time helping mothers and babies succeed with breastfeeding. He now works at the Newman Breastfeeding Clinic and Institute based at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto.

Dr. Jean-Jacques Dugoua, or Dr. JJ as he is affectionately known, is a naturopathic doctor, clinical pharmacologist and researcher. He is the Chief Medical Officer of the Liberty Clinic in downtown Toronto and the first Naturopathic Doctor (ND) to practice at the Toronto Western Hospital in the Artist Health Center, one of the few NDs practicing in a hospital in Canada. He has worked with the Motherisk Program at Sick Kids Hospital and is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy.

Dr. JJ completed his PhD in Pharmacy Sciences at the University of Toronto. He has co-authored 2 books on pregnancy safety and one book on diabetes. Dr. JJ has many peer-reviewed scientific publications published or in press. He is a world expert on natural health products pharmacology and pregnancy safety. Local and nationwide print and television media frequently consult him to provide expert commentary.

Dr. JJ is an avid public speaker. Dr. JJ has given presentations nationally and internationally, including presentations at the World Health Organization in Washington DC and at conferences in Canada, US, China and Hong Kong.

John Redden is a Western Medical Herbalist with an eclectic background. He has over thirty years experience growing and wild crafting herbs, manufacturing remedies and clinical practice. As a member and former vice-president of the Ontario Herbalists Association, he co-founded “A Celebration of Herbs”, Toronto’s largest herbal event. For six years, John served as the editor of the Canadian Journal of Herbalism, the national herbal medical journal for professional herbalists and interested lay enthusiasts. He is a hands-on teacher of numerous aspects of holistic herbal medicine and teaches popular and advanced classes in his workshop/ laboratory and at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. John is a member of the professional advisory board for the Ontario Ginseng Growers Association and a founding author of the Canadian General Standards Board on Organic Agriculture co-authoring Canada’s laws on organic farming and manufacturing. John’s studies in the U.S., Britain, and Canada have culminated in the founding of Viriditas Herbal Products, whose clients include professional herbalists, naturopaths, and medical doctors. Before graduating CCNM in 2006 Dr. Lander developed a strong interest in the care of patients with cancer and went on to complete a two-year hospital-based residency at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Daniel returned to CCNM as a full-time faculty member in 2011. He is currently an Associate Professor teaching naturopathic oncology and clinical nutrition, as well as supervising 4th year interns in the Adjunctive Cancer Care Shift at the RSNC. Dr. Lander is a strong proponent of naturopathic oncology as an area of focus within naturopathic medicine and presently sits on the Board of Directors of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians. He is also an advocate for the regulation of naturopathic medicine and while in Oklahoma held terms as the president and the vice-president of the Oklahoma Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

Kim Whitaker graduated from McMaster University in 2000 with Hons. BSc and Minor in Anthropology, and went on to pursue a career in Naturopathic Medicine studying at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine where she graduated in 2004. Kim ran a successful practice in mid-town Toronto, bringing health, wellness, and active living to her community. While owning and running her business, she was a member of the clinical faculty at the Canadian College of Naturopathic medicine with a special interest in sports medicine and pain management. After noticing the gap in our healthcare systems, and wanting more for herself and her patients, Kim went back to school to pursue her Doctor of Medicine.

Kim graduated from Saba University School of Medicine in2015 and concurrently achieved her Masters in Hyperbaric Medicine. She is currently in her first year of residency at University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency with a plan to enter the Obstetrics track in her second year. She will graduate with qualifications in both vaginal deliveries and c-sections. Her aspiration is to bridge the gap between western medical and preventative and complementary approaches and to promote optimal health, happiness and well being in her patients.

Dr. Taylor became one of the first Canadian doctors (ND or MD) to complete the Physicians Training Program through the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS), a multidisciplinary organization dedicated to the diagnosis and appropriate treatment of Lyme and its associated diseases.In the years since, much of her practice is devoted to treating patients either misdiagnosed, mistreated or left untreated for these illnesses. Dr. Taylor continues to learn about how these and other illnesses can influence several systems of the body, destabilize the immune system, and complicate diagnosis and symptoms and has recently completed another ILADS Physicians Training in California. Dr. Hoffman was born and educated in South Africa and obtained his medical degree from the University of Cape Town. After two years of compulsory military training, his distaste for the local regime convinced him to emigrate to Canada in 1986 where he pursued family medical practice in rural Saskatchewan, Canada. Once ensconced in the practice of family medicine, he quickly realized that his interests in medicine were broader than just drugs and surgery.
