Title: Integrative Management of High Risk Pregnancy
Speaker:  Kim Whitaker MD ND (inactive)

This lecture helps Naturopathic Doctors gain comfort in treating or co-managing high-risk pregnancy .  The high risk pregnancy topics covered in the talk include:

  • hypertensive disorders of pregnancy
  • diabetes and pregnancy including gestational diabetes
  • coagulation disorders of pregnancy
  • thyroid diseases (e.g. hypothyroidism)
  • CV disorders (e.g. cardiomyopathy of pregnancy)
  • GI disorders of pregnancy

Learning objectives:

  1. Understand the medical management of high risk pregnancies
  2. Become familiar with areas for naturopathic management and new research
  3. Increase knowledge on neonatal dysbiosis and use of probiotics to support Mom/Baby
  4. Understand how to manage birth expectations and how to provide support in the mental/emotional sphere
