Title:   Applications for Herbal Pharmacy in Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Speaker: Dr. Marisa Marciano ND

As a diagnosis of exclusion IBS is associated with many factors that impact digestive function.  In this one hour lecture Dr. Marciano uses her clinical expertise to discusses how she accounts for these factors when making botanical formulation for this condition.  Emphasis is placed on understanding the role of certain herbal actions and the specific botanicals with these groups.  Dr Marciano also discusses how to utilize herbs in the kitchen pharmacy.

Learning objectives:

  1. To impart a greater confidence in the art & science of individualized herbal formulating (teas & tinctures) for patients experiencing mood disorders alongside symptoms of dyspepsia & Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
  2. To explain the mechanisms by which herbal therapies can benefit symptoms of IBS associated with anxiety and/or depression.
  3. To explain how to incorporate herbal therapies into a patient’s daily life with greater ease & potential for healing (i.e. less capsules, more culinary applications & pleasant use of teas & tinctures as medicinal beverages).
