Dr. Earls discuss what sickness behavior is and how it affects resilience, sickness behavior and inflammation, the areas of the brain involved with sickness behavior and resilience, causes and stages of sickness behavior.  She outlines the hallmark characteristics of resilience in body and mind, resilience and psychoneuroimmunology, activating brain derived neurotrophic factor, clinical assessment tools for sickness behavior and resilience.  In the presentation the viewer is offered strategies to support resilience in our four quadrants (mind, body, emotions, spirit), how to encourage resilient behaviors in our patients, teach four types of resilience strategies, basics of emotional resilience, tools for enhancing resilience.
