Description

Title: Supporting The Stages of Grief Through Naturopathic Medicine
Speaker: Dr. Aoife Earls ND

Grief has two distinct stages; acute and integrated, and both have physical challenges that are not often addressed with traditional counselling. In this lecture, you will learn a three-step process involving acknowledgment of the physical and emotional self, and how to support a person in active and ongoing grief that allows for deep healing, and stabilization of a stressed immune system. Bring your curiosity and creativity, as there will be a creative component you will explore in order to understand what your patient may be experiencing in the work you prescribe.

Learning Objectives

  1. Participants will learn the foundational principles of body-mind paradigms.
  2. Participants will note medical articles that show how body-mind principles are supported by research, resources they can share with patients to deepen confidence and compliance.
  3. Participants will know that body-mind medicine is best used in the context of conservative caution, realizing that medical support may be necessary at times and when to refer for that possibility.
  4. Through case studies, participants will learn how to safely begin using body-mind approaches in a naturopathic setting.
