In this 60 minute lecture Dr. Ayoup provides insight into the role of the skin as a barrier and it’s implication in many skin conditions. Dr. Ayoup discusses the role of physiologic lipids, the structure and role of ceramides and contrasts the difference between physiologic lipids and non-physiologic lipids/moisturizer ingredients. The presentation also outlines the associations between altered skin barrier and various/common dermatological concerns and the skin barrier supportive cosmeceuticals and how to implement/integrate cosmeceuticals in Naturopathic practice.
